Heather Zeng (Zhiqian)
The Last One
Everyone
has their own name, and each person's name has a different meaning. My
parents give me a meaningful name which is an expectation for me, and they
expect I can be better in the future. My name is Zhiqian Zeng(曾祉芊), but I do not
like my name. In my name, Zhi(祉) means
happiness, and qian(芊) means
the wonderful 2000 years. The bottom part of qian means 2000,
and the upper part means wonderful. My parents hope I can be happy during life,
and they what to commemorate my birth year. Most of the people say my
name is special and unique, but that is not what I think. I feel my name is
a burden for me to live in United States. I just felt my name has
too much strokes to write . Then, it really changed my view
after I came to the United States. This may be a godsend or a coincidence that
my first and last name both start with letter Z. It is not a problem
if I live in China, but it is a problem if I live in United States. I am always
the last one on the class name list, and many people cannot pronounce my
name. When I am the last one, and no one cannot pronounce it, it
makes me feel I am different than others. Because of my name, I am always
behind, and I can cannot be on the top when the teacher takes attendance.
Also, I really hate to be the last one in my life. This is
the reason why I give myself a name in English, and it really makes me feel I
am not awkward anymore. The meaning of name is great and unique, but I do not
like to be the last one. The Chinese characters of my name are beautiful,
and I believe I will love my name so much if I did not come to United States.
It is a beautiful name, but with a wrong person. I hope I can change myself,
and I hope I can love my name someday in the future.
Honestly, I like your Chinese name because it is special and beautiful. I am opposite of you. I am starting like my name after I moved to United States because my name makes me feel that I am the special one here. Although I still don't like to introduce my original name, I start to learn how to explain my name in the nice way to other people. when you feel bad of your name, remember that the last one always is the best. Therefore, you are the best.
ReplyDeleteHi Heather, I just knew that your Chinese name is Zhiqian Zeng. It is easier for me to call you Heather. I think with your English name, you will get happiness and a wonderful life too. Since your name starts with the letter H, you are not the last one anymore.
ReplyDeleteHi Heather! I feel the same way about my last name Xu in english pronunciation. Many people doesn't really how to pronounce the word. Although it is something hard to pronounce, but I still think your name is really beautiful, you shouldn't give that up.
